Bannu is a district of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. It is situated at a distance of 190 km, in the south of Peshawar. Its population is more than half a million. Majority of the population live in villages. Still the Urban area is overcrowded with people. The urban area can be divided into three category Town I, Town II & Town III.

BANNU PHYSICAL FEATURES:
The entire territory of this tribal area is composed of hills of mediumheight between 450 to 11200 meters. The highest peak (1,216) of thearea is located to the south of Walai. Kharaghora is the prominentrange in the southern part of the area with an average height of almost850 meters. Three of the important western tributaries of the Indusnamely Kurram, Baran and Tochi rivers flow across this tribal area. Thecultivated area is about 33,000 acres. Wheat, maize and sugarcane arethe main crops. Some dates and citrus trees are grown in the orchardsin the plains of the kurram and Tochi rivers.
